To be a Christian Wife means understanding your relationship with Christ and making sure that it stays a priority during your marriage. I found that the most important thing to remember is that God loved you first! When we were single God was the man in our life and He loved us unconditionally. There are no faults in God- we had nothing to complain about and the relationship was awesome. I looked for Him for my direction in life and I consulted Him constantly on the way that He would have me to. The communication that I have with God was daily and very intimate however; when I met my husband I neglected my relationship with God.

I recently celebrated my one-year anniversary with my husband and it was a difficult year. During Watch Night Service I found the answer as to why it has been so difficult- my husband is a Man! When I married him, he replaced God in my life, and I expected and wanted him to love me as God did. I realized that was not fair to give him that kind of comparison. True the husband is to love the wife as Christ loves the Church but he is still a man! Unfortunately my husband cannot love me the way God does, and I know my husband loves me dearly. God's love is unconditional it is constant.

I had to refocused my relationship with God and ask Him for forgiveness for leaving Him for another man. When I got married I let my intimate relationship with my God go- I felt that all of my time should be focused on being a wife, mother and taking care of my household. My quite time with God was pushed aside with the being busy in the world and I left God out of my new life. Being a Christian wife means that I still but God first in my life, and that He still requires that quiet time with me, I am His and He is mine and that relationship has to grow - it is essential to the growth of my marriage. Once you are married your relationship with Christ should be deeper than it was when you were single. You are now before God to ask you for direction for your family, your husband and to be a help mate at all times to him.

I now have the opportunity to go to God and ask Him to love my husband as He loves me and to show us both how to love each other the way that He loves us. It is a difficult task and requires a resolve of your spirit and acceptance of peace and understanding that God is.... my marriage and He is the center of it. If I am focusing on God and my husband is focusing on God, together we will have the same mindset and understanding of what true love really is.
