Truth vs. Myth
Religion is one of the most debated topics, and one that many will run away from, each person has his or her own perspective on topics of the religion and depending on who you talk to, the answer that is received is going to vary dramatically. There are those that feel that the Bible is the final word, and all that is stated is the actual word of God, and then there are those that felt that the Bible is not complete fact but mans version of the truth. There are numerous religions in the world that are practiced by hundreds of millions, with Christianity alone there are many different forms of Christianity, and with that comes different versions of the Bible. One that teaches in that Baptist faith will not be reading the same words of those that in the Catholic faith, is ones Bible version the right one over the next. A Christian is one that believes in Jesus Christ, but the way man practices his or her faith differs from one to the next, as does the Bible that he or she is reading, so is one deemed more accurate then the next, all of it is saying basically the same thing, just stated differently, the equation of relativity has been determined to be absolute truth, and has not varied from one year to the next. From the point of discovery E=MC2 it is still that, so man has not rearranged the equation to fit better with what man views as the truth. One can not make that statement honestly in regards to the Bible.
It is said that the Bible is the most re-written book in world history, and if this is true then the Bible has become the longest playing game of telephone is world history as well. One man will start a saying or a phrase and whisper it to the next person, so on and so forth, and by the time that it reaches the end of the line, what is repeated has little or nothing to do with what was stated originally. The Bible is no different when thought about logically, or intellectually. What it comes down to is the simplest of facts, and that is that no one living today was around then to know with a doubt that all that is stated in the Bible to be absolute fact. Now is there an element of truth behind the words that are being read every day, and practiced by millions? Sure why not, why can't what is being taught believed to be the truth, but this is not the question at hand, this is about is it the truth or myths. Myths by definition are "a traditional story accepted as history; serves to explain the world view of a people", or in this case the masses.
