How talking is different than communicating in a relationship

Talking and communication are indeed two different things. Talking is verbal stimulation that is often used as a form of communication. Communication itself is the free exchange of ideas between the two people. Communication requires listening whereas talking does not. The need for communications actually the need for understanding between two individuals.

It is entirely possible to talk without communicating. Talking only takes one individual. Communication requires the presence of more than one person. Therefore it is possible to talk without communicating anything.Language barriers as well as age and comprehension all factor into whether or not communication is taking place.Relationship to rely on communication must have any equal balance between two parties of talking and listening. Without this communication process will eventually fail.True communication is about understanding acceptance of another person.Communication is also the expression of emotion. A person can be completely empty of emotion when talking but that would not work in the communication process.

In successful communication some vulnerability is always at the core. It is the sharing of the inner most thoughts of a person so that a bond can be developed. It involves investment of time energy and emotion to be successful.Whereas a person can talk without listening, they cannot communicate without listening in an active manner.Communication requires that both individuals walk away from conversation feeling heard and that they are valuable to the relationship in which they just invested time.

Communication takes work and maintenance, talking can happen at any time almost spontaneously.Unless a person has a physical abnormality they are able to talk. This is not mean however, that they are able to communicate.Successful communication takes dedication and commitment to be maintained cultivated overt a period of time. A good communicator is also able to anticipate the emotional reactions of their communication partner when certain words are spoken. Therefore the choice of vocabulary is carefully selected so as to convey the proper meaning. Generalizations and judgments are avoided so that the relationship can continue grow in a positive direction. It is also a search for clarity and understanding. It requires both parties to care about the other as well as the emotional impact of what the conversation will create within the boundaries of the relationship.
