How to avoid panicking over Friday deadlines and manic Mondays

through, but you have managed to deal with quite a hefty portion of work. In the ideal world, this would happen, but who lives in an ideal world? There will be demands that you did not have when you organized and prioritized so long ago, early on Monday morning. Do not panic, you are in this job because you are good at what you do. Remember those big spaces on your Category pages? Slot the new demands into them and get the fat pens working to help prioritize.

You might want to make a list of completed items to keep track of how much you have accomplished, or just prefer to look at those bright lines of color you used to cross them off. Whichever you choose, looking at your completed tasks is very satisfying and will add to that feeling of being in control, and so help to avoid the panic of Friday deadlines and manic Mondays. You have it all in hand.

Now this next suggestion might seem very old fashioned in a computer driven age of technology, but this little system worked for me for many years. A 31 day file. Yes, just a little box with index cards numbered 1 to 31, a way of organizing, prioritizing and recording for a month at a time. A short reminder noted for what needed doing each day, a peek at the dated cards let me see what had to be dealt with. This system supported my daily lists, highlighted my priorities and helped always with meeting deadlines. It was yet another security blanket for saving me from panic and mania.

Invest a little time to get your system in place, use it daily and stick to it. Feel the power and control that comes from ORGANIZE and PRIORITIZE as the work gets done. You rule the work, not the other way round, which is as it should be. You can do it, I know, I have been there and done it.
