Humans are creatures of nescessity. Thus there was a god.

Five hundred newly cropped children wondered openly what the sunshine was. They asked why the sky boomed. They questioned where the birds flew. The men of the valley had no clue. But these men were respectable intelligent folks that only wanted the best for their children. "What could be a solution to our plight?" they pondered.

Humans trust those who give them good reason to trust. They dare not percieve that those whom they respect deceive, so children believe the words of their parents and loved ones. When these children are come into adulthood, they now believe what their fathers taught and thus teach it to their own children without a hitch. But what if what their fathers said was only a guess at the unknown? The young ones looked at their all knowing mentors with dumfounded eyes and hopes of knowledge to the unforseen. Yes, the adults showed and taught the children to live and love. The first humans who were capable of communication and question were a curious lot with no real answers. But the stronger of this group felt it was their place to give the answers to the weaker. Creativity was born, and with it came the answer to lifes hardest questions.

Now, mind altering substances have always existed. Without the knowledge of how the brain works, it would be mighty hard to understand how something could alter its course. So when natural drugs were eaten, as many were, the answer for the bright colors and strange feelings was that something more powerful gave them this. Now, though this was true, they had no idea where the source had really come from. The source truely was only the smallest of living organism, which made up the larger creatures of the world. When our molucules are changed, so are we. But the people of early history before history had no way of knowing about atoms and electrons, so they heard the whispers in the wind and believed the booms of the clouds. They knew fear, and the children saw that too.

Fear was a great motivator. It motivated the people to gather food before winter, and now the wisest of the ignorant could use it to motivate people to do good. They could create a way to answer the questions of the beyond and keep the people in check at the same time. Although the originators of the answer may not truely have believed their own words, it settled the minds of the ones who listened to them, thus keeping the peoples hatred at bay.

You see, if one fears for their own safety, they
