The sky is the limit when it comes to creating fun and innovative ideas for decorating children's rooms. In the modern era there is beautiful furniture and wonderful textiles available to give your children a room that is more than just a place for rest, but one that is used for fun and recreation too.

Whether you're decorating your child's bedroom or creating a playroom for them, following are some fun and innovative ideas available for parents that you can use in your children's bedrooms or rumpus rooms.

BEDROOM AND PLAYROOM THEMES

Finding a theme to decorate your child's room in is fun and creates an environment that is easy to decorate. Painting murals upon the walls, purchasing themed bedding or curtains, can achieve a theme in a child's room easily or floor mats in particular colors that go with the other dcor in the room.

It is selecting the theme for your children's rooms that is the difficult part. Some ideas include Princess themes using Disney characters, fairies, cartoon characters, favorite television or movie characters such as Thomas the Tank Engine or Brum, alphabet, numerical, jungle theme, under water theme or even a forest theme.

FUN PAINTING IDEAS FOR KIDS ROOMS

Paint can add so much fun to a child's room especially with the variety of innovative paint available today. Besides the use of the many colors available, parents can also choose paint that gives an illusion of different textures such as suede effects that can be painted onto a featured wall within the room.

You can also purchase chalkboard paint that is painted onto the walls, giving your children a chalkboard canvas for creativity at any time.

Magnetic paint is also available that will allow magnets to attach to the walls.

To create an original haven for your kids you could also have a mural painted in their room. This can be in any number of themes but some ideas include mermaids and under the sea, the forest or even a nursery rhyme theme.

For those of you who cannot locate someone to create a mural or cannot do it yourself, you may want to look at "Art Deco Wall Stickers" that attach and detach easily but create an illusion of a mural upon the wall.

BEING CREATIVE WITH LIGHT

A child's room, no matter what age they are does not need the simple lamp or globe above. Purchase fairy lights to dangle around the bed head or from the curtain rods to create a great light affect.

Colored or painted globes can also be purchased or created that emit many lighting affects around a room.
