How to shed your holiday pounds

Created on: January 06, 2009

I know, I know. You're looking at this article because you're desperately trying to find any way to shed your holiday pounds. It's okay, you're definitely not the only one. Who didn't have some of their Grandma's fruit cake, their neighbor's good turkey, or the high calorie fruit drink that you just couldn't get enough of? That's why I'm here to stop your worries and let you know that there is a safe and easy way to lose the extra rolls (not to be confused with dinner rolls) that you have gained this past holiday. You just have to get right back on track. It's hard to go from letting yourself indulge in the delicious holiday feast to eating the right serving of a veggie burrito with a side of baked chips. But it's what's going to get you going. The smartest path to take is no other than... Weight Watchers. It can make you bounce back from you food slips and get you to make good choices for yourself; ones that you'll be satisfied with. The way the program works is every food item has a number of "points". This point is based on the calories, fat, and fiber in the food. The lower the points, the better; and opposite for higher points. If you don't want to actually be on Weight Watchers, at least know this: The lower the calories and fat, the better and the higher the fiber, the better. There is no specific food that you have to eat. The fun part is if you want to eat a burger, Go Ahead And Eat A Burger! This is a very important command because that's what separates this program from a diet. Just if you choose to eat a burger, you have to make even more smarter choices throughout the day. But never deprive yourself of something you want to eat. Maybe if the food you want is too high in calories and fat, then you can eat a healthier substitute of it. Now you have all the info you need about food. That will help you in your journey, slowly but surely. If you want quicker results and want to get in shape, then you need to put exercise into your plan. 3 to 5 times a week and 30 mins to 60 mins will be good enough for your body. The best way is to change up the pace of your workout. You'd be surprised to know that running straight for 30 minutes isn't the best option. A good example for exercise would be to speed walk for 2 minutes and run for 1 minute; repeating the cycle. Don't go macho man and keep pumping forever, but then don't be a weak chicken and keep it low all the time, either. Switching it up with your meals and you exercise like that will have you showing off your body again in 40 degree weather!
