With the blockbuster fantasy and sci fi hits of movies like "Ironman," "The Dark Knight" and "Spiderman" 1, ,2 and 3, it really comes as no surprise TV networks have scrambled to come up with their own mega hits to rival the action-packed characters and plotlines that have made millions for Hollywood. Enter stage left, the four most successful paranormal dramas on television for 2008. Break out the popcorn and turn out the lights. Be forewarned, however: the truth may be out there, but the road toward it is riddled with death defying, bone crunching, heart stopping thrills. Say sayonara to the mild-mannered you and get ready to scream or at the very least, gasp with your heart stuck solidly in your throat.
#4: Chuck
As if having the government accidentally download all their vital secrets into your brain wasn't enough, the intersect where all that important data once resided blew up. Which leaves Chuck the single most valuable government asset in the world. Fear not. His FBI and CIA handlers John Casey and Sarah Walker are charged to protect him at all cost. They're tough, experienced and professional. But they soon discover protecting Chuck from imminent danger and mortal enemies are a piece of cake compared to saving Chuck from himself.
In addition, working the Nerd Herd at the local Buy More Electronic store often proves more deadly than the alternate life of a secret agent Chuck is forced into. Filled with hilarity, suspense and even a shot of romance now and then, Chuck is one of the most charming, addicting and loveable nerds on TV. How can you not fall for a guy who can save a city and your crashed computer, all within an hour? Watch Chuck on NBC Mondays at 8:00 pm eastern, 7:00 pm central.
#3: Supernatural
The brothers Dean and Sam Winchester have been battling demonic forces all their lives and for nearly four years now, they've brought us along for the ride. We stalked vampires and werewolves with them, cast off the yellow-eyed demon, and now we're even communing with the angels. Though so far, that hasn't worked out so well.
We've witnessed the tragedy of Sam's death, the even more calamitous circumstances of Dean's death. Thankfully, they somehow managed to come back to life just in time to save the world. Saving the world, however, isn't always the heroic act we may think it is. Because somehow, Dean and Sam always manage to screw it up as in last season's installment, when Dean was sentenced to eternity in hell and the promise of a new life
