When you see the marine commercials, I bet you can repeat the words, "The few. The Proud. The Marines." With those words come the image of integretiy honesty and honor. This symbology is meant to instill upon young men and women that integrity, honesty and honor are needed for the marine corps. Could it be said that integrity, honesty and honor is a way of life? Yes, these three words mean something to everyone around. Walking in a spiritual manner means to emit honesty, integrety and honor in everything you do, and in all interactions among people.
Integrity means being sound, being complete and whole. Without being complete or whole, you cannot be spiritual. These two are tied together. Honesty is that you are truthful in ever endeavor, and in speaking or walking your truth. After all the Bible states that "The truth shall set you free." As the infamous dictionary states, "fairness and straightforwardness of conduct." Even the definition from the dictionary states that this is more than a word. Honesty is a manner of conduct. With conduct comes action of yourself, and action from the mind. Honor as meaning promotes a good name, a merited respect, a person of superior standing. So, with that definition we have someone who stands for and is honorable.
For some of the Native American Spiritual beliefs contain a medicine wheel representing the four directions. For each direction there are words to represent those different directions. Integrity and honesty are part of that medicine wheel. They firmly believe in walking your talk, and talking your walk. They consider that to be walking in beauty as the whole person exuding integrity, honesty and honor. This is just another example of why these words are not just words, they are a way of life. They are a way in which to live.
No, you don't have to be in the Marine Corps to have these traits, but the image that it brings to mind is a good one. They behave in such a way as to walk in integrity, honesty and honor. Walking in spirit means to walk with integrity, hoesty and honor. Without these characteristics we become less of a person, and someone who isn't trusted. We want to produce and present ourselves as if we were in the Marine Corps. Let us live in such a way, that no one can say anything else contrary to having integrity, honesty and honor. What keeps you from living this life? What is in your mind that allows you to wonder if these words are just words or a way of life? Dig deep, and become a person who walks in Spirit, and by walking in Spirit you walk with integrity, honesty and honor.
