Humor: Bullies

by Rex Coker

Little Charlie stepped out of his mothers car onto the curb. He stood there for the longest time dreading his first day in a new school. He searched the grounds for a familiar face and could not see any of his old friends from the old school he moved up from. It was Charlies first year of junior high and he was in high hopes of it going smoothly. He turned and closed the car door and slung his back pack over his shoulder. Charlie made his way up the pavilion to the front doors of the building and he grabbed the door handle and pulled it open. A big boy shoved his way through the same doors as Charlie and knocked Charlie to the floor. "Sorry Geek", the bully said as he laughed uncontrollably starring down at Charlie.

It's going to be a long day, Charlie thought to himself. I have to muster up the courage to go to my classes today and the bullies have already started picking on me. Charlie made most of his classes through out the day and a couple he had the loud mouth obnoxious bully in too. Charlie could feel the bullies eyes burning into the back of his head from the back of the room and Charlies mind could only think of the bad things that would happen to him from here on out the school year. With out the help of friends to walk with him to his classes each day and to the lunch room, Charlie hated school for this very reason.

Charlie had finally made it to lunch period and he sat with a group of kids he thought he might be safe with. He opened his bag lunch his mother had prepared for him. A peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a Hershey candy bar for desert. Charlie was half way through the sandwich when the bully showed up in front of him. The bully demanded Charlies candy bar. Charlie did not want to depart with the sweet desert but thought it best to deflate any trouble. The bully grabbed the candy bar and threw Charlies milk onto the floor as he walked away from Charlie's table. The other kids just watched as the bully walked to another table and did the same thing to a few other smaller kids at different tables.

Charlie watched the clock on the class room wall. The bell would ring soon and his day of hell would be over until the next day. Charlie knew he would have to think of something to rid himself of this bully. Charlie knew he could not go through this ordeal of being bullied everyday for the entire school year. He would have to come up with a plan to take care of this problem. Lost in his thoughts, Charlie was startled when the school bell rang to end the days classes. He stood up beside his desk and put his books and paper inside his back pack. He was about to put the straps over his shoulders when he felt a big push in his back. Charlie fell forward and hit his cheek on the corner of the desk. A small amount of blood trickled down his cheek as the bully laughed and mocked Charlie to his friends. Charlie was mad and hurt, but he kept his cool and just let the older boys walk away.

The teacher walked Charlie to the school nurse to have his cheek looked after. Charlies Mom entered the school to see what was the cause of Charlies delay and the Principal directed her to the nurses station down the hall. Charlie was sitting in a chair with a butterfly stitch holding the cut below his eye closed. "What happened Charlie", his mother asked. "I fell and hit my cheek on the desk Mom", Nothing for you to be worried about. "Well, you need to be more careful","You could have been hurt real bad", she added. The two walked out through the double doors of the school and headed for the car. The bully was standing across the street and Charlie waved his hand as if he was saying good bye to a good friend as his mother opened the car door for Charlie to get in.

The ride home was quiet and Charlie starred out the passenger side window at the houses that lined his street. He ran many thought through his mind on the best way to handle the dangerous situation. Charlie was brought out of his trance by the car coming to a halt in their driveway. He gathered his book bag from the back seat and shut the door with anger. He never said a word to any one as he entered the front door of the house, but went straight to his room and shut the door with a loud slam. Charlie thought about how bad his stomach hurt and the cut below his eye was a constant reminder of the days events. Charlie opened his door and walked down the hall way to the bathroom. He stepped inside and shut the door. In the mirror he looked at his bruised face. He looked inside the medicine cabinet for something that might take the headache away. While he was looking he saw a small box of chocolate Ex-lax laying on the second shelf. Charlie took the Ex-lax from the cabinet and shoved it down into his pocket of his pants.

Charlie walked to the kitchen and looked inside the pantry for the stash of Hershey candy bars his Mom put in his lunch every morning for school. There behind the cereal lay the dark chocolate candy bars. He looked around to see if anyone was watching and snuck one of the sweet morsel bars out of it's package. He calmly walked back to his bedroom and lay his concoction out on top of the bed. He slowly unwrapped the candy bar and took it out of it's aluminum wrapper. He lay the Hershey bar face down on a sheet of paper on his desk.

He took out a spoon he had in his desk drawer and held it over the scented candle to heat it up. He removed the Ex-lax from it's package and placed it in the spoon. The chocolate ingredients of the Ex-lax melted to a creamy smooth form. Charlie poured the Ex-lax onto the Hershey bar and smoothed it out. He let it cool until it blended in with the Hershey bar. Perfect he thought, It looks just like the rest of the candy bar. Charlie placed the Hershey bar back into the foil paper and folded it back to the way it had been packaged and inserted it back into the brown paper sleeve that made the company famous.

The next day at school, Charlie walked towards the lunch room. He had switched the Hershey bar that morning while he waited in the car for his mother. He sat down at the same table he had sat at the day before and slowly ate his sandwich. Like clock work the bully appeared through the lunch room door and headed straight for Charlie's table. Charlie watched the bully until he stopped in front of him demanding his chocolate bar. Charlie handed it to the bully and the bully walked away as he knocked Charlies milk off in the floor once again. Charlie sat there calmly and once the bully was behind him a large grin came over Charlies face.

Charlie knew the bully would be in his last class of the day. The kid's were suppose to stand in front of the class and read their report on economics to the others. Charlie had given his presentation and returned to his seat when the bullies name was called by the teacher. The bully had looked a little flushed in the face and he puffed his cheeks as if he needed to let out a big belch. He never did though and stood up and made his way to the front of the class. The bully shuffled his papers to order and cleared his throat and started to read. Mid way through his report, he stopped suddenly with a look of panic in his eyes. He had one hand holding his stomach as a cramp hit him all of a sudden. He grimaced and turned a pale shade of white and perspiration beaded on the bullies forehead.

The bully looked to terrified to move and the rumblings of his stomach could be heard all the way in the back of the class room as a torrid odor filled the nostrils of every student and teacher in the classroom. The bully stood there amongst the stench and fecal matter that was running out of his pant legs. The teacher was horrified to witness the spectacle of the bullies demise but the damage had been done and the demeaning of the bully was a success. Charlie and the rest of the class could only laugh as the teacher made the bully stand on a old news paper until help could arrive for assistance and clean up.

Charlies experiences with the bully went on for about two weeks, but after the third time of soiling himself in class, the bully finally relented that it was chocolate that upset his stomach so bad. The bully stayed clear of Charlie from there on and when ever the bully would act up towards Charlie he would introduce a different laxative into the bullies food. No time to be a bully if your stuck on the pot Charlie thought and laughed to himself.
