Poetry: Years go by

by Dominic D.

Created on: January 05, 2009

In shallow waters I skipped a stone

I looked to days ahead.

I hated facing life alone

I chose then to be wed.

So my journey there began

with someone by my side.

A woman who called me her man

I took to be my bride.

This choice I made has cost me dear

She controlled my every choice

She nagged me always in my ear

We were both one to her voice.

I chose one night to go back where

the shallow stream still lie

I skipped a stone for old time's sake

And softly gave a sigh

For all the years that passed me

And for the years that will go by.
