The first time I held you in my arms, I promised that everything you would own would have it's own little charms. I vowed to you while your eyes were closed that you would be happy. Even if you were sad or you were a bit snappy. Even though you kicked and tugged at me, God made it this way, cause he wanted this to be. I promised that everything for you would have an easy way out. Even if you were real bad and if you made me shout. I vowed that nobody would mess with you, even if there was something I needed to do. I vowed to push you to the dot, even if I gave you all I got. I swore to never let yourself get negative, but to make you positive for yourself. I promised that you will always be safe under my sight. Even if you did anything that gave me such a fright.

And as they brought you back in, I swore that you would get what you desperately needed and wanted, as long as you treated yourself with respect. I promised to let you have a shoulder to cry on. Even if you woke me up in the wee hours of dawn. I swore that when you turned sixteen, you would have the party of the year. Even if my money left, which would make me shed a tear. And as they gave you to me, I swore that you would have a roof over your head. And I promised you would have a bandage over any scrape that bled. I vow to you my child that I will love you for you. And I will love you for every great thing you do. I swear to you that you will never feel lonely. Even if you feel like the day is going by slowly. I promise you that you will have clothing on your body every single day. And when you need some time on your own I'll try to stay out of your way. I swear that everyday of your life you'll have food on the table. Even if the times of our live are quite unstable. If your in trouble, I will be there for you, working the double. If you need somebody trustworthy, helpful, honest and caring, just look in your phone book and you'll find my name there. If you need me here or there, I'll go anywhere. I'll just tell you in short words. I will love you until the end of time. I will care for you and everything I will share with you. But in shorter words, I Love You.
