Panic attacks are frightening, there is no denying that. You should learn how to deal with panic attacks in order to make your condition as painless as possible. There are a few helpful hints and tips that you should know in order to come to terms with your condition and to make your life a lot easier.

Firstly, when you feel the first symptoms of a panic attack, you should time out and breath deeply. Breathlessness is very often a common symptom of panic attacks so learning how to breathe properly and deeply can benefit you greatly. You could also try picturing a calming and relaxing scene, maybe a holiday you once went on that you felt particularly relaxed on, or remembering what it felt like to chill out in the garden in the summer. Whatever your prefect relaxing moment is, think about it and try to imagine you are there again. This should help you to relax and try to calm your racing nerves and heart down. This becomes easier as you practice, do not feel bad if you do not manage this first time.

Try concentrating on a task. When you feel a panic attack coming along, try to give yourself something to complete, whether it be counting backwards from twenty or making a cup of tea, giving yourself a task to achieve will help to take your mind off of the fact that you can feel the beginnings of a panic attack. Learning how to deal with panic attacks will be a slow process, and you need to take it step by step, but in this learning process, giving yourself tiny little things to do and achieve will help you a lot and you will find that the panic attacks will be easier to control as time goes on.

The last thing I would suggest to you when learning how to deal with panic attacks, is to take things slowly. You should remember that no matter how daunting the feeling, or how bad the panic attack may be, it always comes to an end at some point. There is a light at the end of the tunnel as the saying goes. And it is very true. Think of it as a cold or flu, it always comes to an end and you don't permanently feel ill. Don't get angry or upset with yourself for having these feelings, they are more common that you would first expect and there are so many sufferers of panic attacks all over the world. Bearing this in mind, speaking to your Doctor is a must and will get easier when you understand that you are not the only one that is suffering from this rather embarrassing condition that many people do not understand.
