Athiesm versus Christianity. Round six hundred threescore and six. DING!
First off, why does it matter which is better? Wouldn't the better thing be to just coexist? i understand the problems they have with one another, but the solution can only be found within oneself when one tries to fully understand both sides. Not many people are willing to look at the opponent with an open mind. It could be that they are too selfish and arrogant, or it could be that they are afraid their opinion could be swayed or tampered with. If you believe that you don't believe, than don't you still believe that? If you feel something so sure that you know it to be true, that is believing. So if you are sure something doesn't exist, than you believe something. even if something is nothing. even a hole takes up space. Even a vaccume yearns to be full.
However, the true battle between Athiesm and Christianity shouldn't be whether we believe or don't believe in some higher being. the question should be this, "Is God needed?" Yes, no, maybe? Ofcouse.. not? You could relate it to holidays in several ways. Santa and God, love and stuff like that. Ya know, tell your kids he's real so you feel better about fitting in with the rest of society. Or tell your kids he's real so they'll behave. It's the same basic theory.
Be good kids, Santa will give you presents. Be good adults, God will give you eternal happiness. But athiests may know their presents are from their parents, and atheists may know that their is no reward for being good. So why should they go around being good? Why should they do good things if it doesn't affect them?
Christianity is needed. Or at least some kind of religious beliefe structure is. How else are we going to scare everyone into doing good things. Can you look within yourself and honestly say that you would spend eternity in hell if one hundred people you didn't know got to go to heaven? Probably not... and that's a generous guess. If your old friend from high school was going to hell, and all of your children were going to heaven, and you had the choice to take that old friends place in hell... what would you TRUE decision be.
See, atheists are excluded from making tough selfless decisions. It's easier on the mind. I mean, don't get me wrong, with atheism you have more room to grow industrialy and scientifically... but that's a debate in itself over which is better, Science or Religion. They both have their ups and downs. Science, like athiesm, keeps the mind open to
