How the Internet changed the world

The internet: an immense collaboration of worldwide computers, servers, people, business, dreams and creations. Since the creation of dial-up internet, we've seen a massive growth of data usage throughout the years. Along with this immense growth, we've seen a large dependency on this worldwide web grow just as much. Everyday users are constantly researching, adding to, buying and selling, socializing, traveling, hacking, deteriorating and destroying the internet as we speak! As of 2008, according to CIA.gov, the United States alone ranked third in the world, with a whopping 223 million internet users out of the over one billion internet users across the globe!

As a college student, I've more than realized the importance of the internet while researching. This is more than likely due to the ease of access the internet has. If a student were to go to a library, he/she could simply go to the online library catalog, search up a book on space travel and find a numerous amount of books which would talk about clearly that. However, when he/she picks the book off of the shelf, there would be no keypad there, or instant "Ctrl+F" for finding the content exactly as they want it quoted, though there is an index in some cases. Research for anything has increased the accessibility and range of knowledge given from other people worldwide.

Web designers' main function are to simply add to/alter the internet's large database of websites. These web designers are constantly setting the limit for the look, accessibility, and overall friendliness of the world as we see it through our computer screens.

Amazon, Ebay, DHgate [an online buying gate directly from China], Best Buy, Autozone, and Buy.com and more have all revolutionized the world of marketing as we see it today. If anyone wanted to buy a brand-new customized Dell laptop, all he/she would have to do would simply open a web browser, delete the contents of the address bar, type in Dell.com [or do a search via a search engine], and 'badaboom badabing!' purchase a computer with a credit/debit card, and 'wapow!' Within 2-5 business weeks, the brand-new Dell,
