Religion and science both tries to answer the ultimate question how we came into existence the Church has god while science choose the big bang theory. These two concepts might seem to be completely unrelated at all however that's not the case. Both of these ideas say that it is possible to create things out of nothing; in fact the big bang theory was first proposed by the Roman Catholic Church and later adapted by science as a theory on how everything came into existence. Science in many ways is like a religion of its own; it provides answers to the unknown and has a vast number of supporters, more and more as time progresses. Science and religion shares many things in common they both try to provide answers for the unknown and both tries to create a better standard of life even though they have different views about what this standard is. The novel Angels and Demons frequently talks about this topic throughout the book that science is in fact not an enemy of science but something that supports it.
The Big Bang Theory was proposed by George Lamaitre a Catholic Priest as well as a physicist this showed that it is possible for Science and Religion to coexist with each other. The Big Bang theory helps the church prove that the universe simply happened as if by the power of God. It also relates back to science because it is backed by mathematical fundamentals that helps to support this theory.
In the novel Angels and Demons Physicist Leonardo Vetra believed in the idea that modern physics backed up religion, some of the ideas that he said that back this up include that all the particle in our body are connected which rest of the world creating the concept that we are all interconnected. He also believed in the fact that something can be created from nothing which helped to prove the fact that God was able to great the universe out of nothing.
One dominant similarity between science and religion seems to be that they both seem to be a way to solve the unknown. Both science and religion tries to solve the questions that are frequently asked by the human mind. Science is frequently known as the study of certain matters while religion is the search for the truth. Both of these things provides us with answers to our questions and give us a better understanding about life.
Science and religion both provides us with comfort, and takes away suffering. Science does this by providing us with consumer goods that helps us less the work load and medical science allows us to heal faster and gives us more opportunities to survive. Medical science now can save people from diseases that would have killed them 100 years ago, these advances in technology also raised the numbers of years that the average person can live. Religion also does all these things but in a different way it gives comfort by give people the idea that God is always with them and takes away suffering by giving them someone to turn to when they are hurt.
There are numerous numbers of scientific facts and scientists that support religion and believe that God is the creator of our world but the way that he did this can be explained through scientific means. It is hard to believe that there is so much conflict between the two what we all need to do is understand that science is not there to prove that religion is completely false. There are just too many misconceptions out there that give people the idea that science is there to prove the church wrong. The Big Bang Theory is a perfect example of this because people view it as a way to prove that God did not create the universe but the person who actually came up with this theory is actually a Catholic priest.
