Kauai, Hawaii during the spring season

When my husband and I decided to visit Kauai during the children's spring break I thought to myself two things. The first was that air fare was going to be more expensive along with the hotel. Thoughts then wandered to college students and other families which may be visiting the island at this time. While Kauai
is not a big tourist destination at this time, it is slowly attracting more and more individuals due to the beauty and serenity this small island provides.

The rule we follow for travel is leaving and returning on either a Tuesday or Thursday which provided us with a less expensive trip. We stayed at an inexpensive hotel which saved us some money, we planned only to utilize the room for sleeping and cleaning up. The hotel was not very crowed and we acquired easy access to the restaurant adjacent to the hotel which sat beach front. Both the pool area and the beach were not heavily populated either and we were able to enjoy some delightful evenings and mornings there.

The only area on the island where we experienced the most population was located on the South side. Poipu Beach
Park is a highly rated location on the island and we encountered more families than college students there. While this area was heavily populated there was no hindrance in the way of finding a place on the beach or enjoying the ocean. A walk led us to isolation from the more heavily populated beach front.

As individuals discover the peaceful garden island known as Kauai interested tourists are becoming more abundant. At the same time this island is more for those who want to kick back, relax and put the mainland behind them. Those who seek more of a party atmosphere will continue to frequent the islands which allow them this activity more readily than Kauai.

While the island is known for a steady 80 degree temperature year round the evenings and early morning hours do contain a slight chill. Speaking of chilly, if an individual lives in a colder climate on the main land which would warrant warmer clothing, here's a great tip someone gave me. Try to have someone drop you off at the door and leave any winter jackets or coats behind. When I went with my children in the winter we did this and it worked great. We all had something light to wear for our return, so we would not freeze, such as hooded sweat shirts and sweaters. Another thing we did was change into warmer clothes on the plan, we certainly did not want to leave Kauai with pants and sweat shirts on. After our last transfer we took turns utilizing the bath room to change. Yes, it is tight but it made our trip more comfortable.
