Like writing, I love to read. It was the love of reading that helped me enjoy the love I have for writing. So, as I glanced over the Best of 2008: Fiction Novel entries I was a bit, but not totally shocked that I didn't see my favorite book of 2008. Really it is series that started in 2005 and as of this year now has one movie in theaters and another one on the way at the conclusion of this year. Have you figured it out?
No, alright I will tell you. Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyers. I started reading the whole series in the middle of July and by the first few weeks of August was in love; as millions are; with everything to do with the Twilight Saga. I wished I had waited another month so I could have jumped right into Breaking Dawn, however, I like many suffered through the "long" wait for the final chapter of Bella's point of view.
I don't want to give too much away, but I would like to convey my feelings as I read through this long book. In the beginning I read how Bella got married. I didn't think anything of the page that said, "Book One", until I got to the page that said, "Book Two". This is when I had to set the book down for a whole day. I wasn't sure if I wanted to read that part of the book. I skipped ahead hoping the "Book Two" wasn't going to occupy the rest of the book as I had only read about 200 of the almost 800 pages of the book.(Numbers are not completely accurate.) I was happy to find that there was a "Book Three" and began to read "Book Two."
I read it as fast as I could and I remembered that this was how I read the whole series. In like a week and a half, I went from not knowing anything about the Twilight Saga to wanting to know everything little detail I could find. I spend hours online searching for anything that would give me a clue. Since I had to wait for Breaking Dawn. When I finished it was worth all the books I read. The ending was happy! That's all you can ask for in a book, right?
I will admit that the some of my favorite parts come from Breaking Dawn were that parts I didn't want to even read. It's that always the case. The lower your expectations of something the higher the reward of enjoyment. With anything everything has to come to an end and so we bid farewell to the point of view of Bella Swan Cullen. Here's hoping that somewhere in the future we will see more of the Cullen family. After reading Breaking Dawn it was time to wait for the much anticipated movie to go along with the first book in the Saga; Twilight. Which I must add, is a must see. But like everything you can't go into it with high expectations. You will be disappointed if you do. Happy reading!
