Domino's versus Pizza Hut - such has been the running debate for years. Which is better? There is only one way to do this and that is to break it all down into pieces.
What better place to start than with the sauce? Yeah I know, most people start with the crust. The Pizza Hut sauce has always hit my palette as being sweet. I think this is the reason I enjoy their sauce more. Domino's sauce for some reason seems to remind me of spaghetti sauce. It tastes like tomato paste. Granted that might be what some people like about their sauce but not me. I prefer the sweet sauce on my pizza.
Now we'll talk about the crust. I happen to know from my experience working at Pizza Hut that they do make their crust from scratch. For this reason their crust often tastes light and fluffy. They also have the stuffed crust which is the greatest crust ever. And yes I go in cheese first. Who doesn't? But that doesn't mean that the Domino's crust is bad either. It's pre-made and kept cold until needed then laid out on pre-sized trays and baked to golden perfection. I have no complaints about their crust.
What's a pizza without toppings? This is the part where I definitely see no difference. Ok so the pepperonis at Domino's are larger while the ones at Pizza Hut are spicier. The difference in pizzas really all comes down to the quantity of these toppings. Domino's pizzas come loaded with more toppings and are better positioned on the crust. The last time I got a Pizza Hut pizza I could still see some of the crust and sauce. That, of course, was caused by the lack of proper topping distribution. Granted, this could have been the employees and not the food chain itself. That's what you're probably thinking, right? Well I thought that was the case too until I ate at a different chain and got the same sort of pizza. Trust me...it's the chain.
Domino's pizzas are always hot! They make good use of their warming racks and 'heatwave' bags. Another thing I should point out is that everytime I've eaten at Pizza Hut the food has been either under or over cooked. And the service at Pizza Hut compared to Domino's is...another article altogether.
Lastly there is the issue of grease. If you enjoy grease laden pizza then Pizza Hut is your number one choice. You can lay a napkin on top of their pizza and it will not only soak through but also pool on top. Domino's pizza is by no means lacking grease. I mean what would a pizza be without grease? But you can barely notice it in Domino's pizza.
So when asked which pizza would I recommend my answer is as simple as one word: Domino's. After all, why have all the best pizzas under one roof when you can simply avoid the noid?
