When New Year's Eve rolls around, most of us begin dreaming of what we'd like the new and upcoming year to be like. We think of all the things that could be different, and all the things that we would like to change. With that dream sometimes comes New Year's Resolutions. You might be laughing already because we all know that a very high percentage of resolutions are not kept. In order to make those changes, keep those resolutions, and live a more abundant and prosperous life, one must actually be less strict and resolute, and more relaxed and subtle about entering into a new way of life.
The most important thing to avoid is the New Year's Resolution. Upon making a hasty and drastic change, the human body and mind is unprepared to meet such goals. It is likely that you will either fail altogether, or make your best attempt and lose interest within a month or two. In order to fulfill a resolution of change, you must set smaller and more attainable goals. Work toward a resolution without jumping into the deep end of the pool. Make small steps, small changes, and start with things that will be easy for you to stick to. Continue rearranging until, over a longer period of time, you have made enough progress to celebrate. Always celebrate your progress and give yourself a high-five!
Once you've decided on the goals you'd like to meet and changes you'd like to establish, pay attention to circumstances that will help lead you toward success. Sometimes odd situations will arise which we ignore, talk ourselves out of pursuing further, or worse yet, allow others to dash our hopes of possibility. Always take note and research ideas for change. Whenever these new possibilities arise, take a leap of faith. Personal growth and prosperity come from movement, fluidity, and application. Always pay attention to what the world around you is offering.
Perhaps a change in priorities is in order. Make a list of your current priorities, and be completely honest with yourself. Do you want to spend more time interacting with your family, without the television? Do you want to start a business? Do you want a better paying job? Do you want to create a network of friends, whether on the internet or in your own neighborhood? Re-arrange your priorities on paper, and then look for opportunities to make things happen. Turn the television off one night per week, or call the Small Business Administration. Take a step toward prosperity and doors will begin to open for you.
