There are infinite numbers of ways to meditate. To begin we must realize what meditation means.
A definition of meditation is "to think upon". This indicates to me that we are not stopping our mind, but merely redirecting it to other lines of thought.
We set the scene to make it comfortable to sit in the silence. We can darken the room to reduce distractions. A firm but comfortable chair is important. You do not want to fall asleep so sitting upright helps keep the consciousness awake and alert.
Music soothes the soul and playing something soothing helps the atmosphere to bring about peaceful thoughts. Keeping any meditation to a reasonable length of time helps keep us focused without getting frustrated trying to remain too long in the altered state of consciousness conducive to meditation.
When we sit quiet and try to empty our minds, we usually end up in a frustration of thoughts and energies all playing through the mind. It is ever so difficult to even redirect the worrisome thoughts.
Another tool that works hand in glove with meditation is visualization. We can visualize in our own minds a scene. This scene can bring us peace and connect us with a more sensitive part of our nature. We can find peace within.
No matter how much we want to learn to direct our mind, we must first find peace within. Then the mind can be given the thoughts we wish to direct our attention to in bringing change within.
Affirmation works on this vibration as well. Keeping our mind in positive mode rather than the usual negativity that seems to come so easily.
When we want to work with the natural law, the law of attraction being merely one of the natural laws, we must be mindful of our exercises to find peace. We use nature to bring this scene to a peace centre. After all, human beings are a part of nature as well. We tend to resonate with the energies of nature and our scene of peace can be taken from some place either we know or create.
The tool for attunement in mediumship is meditation. When we have found our own peace centre we can invite anyone or anything into our consciousness to make that connection and partnership with spirit to spirit.
We are body, mind, spirit even as we vibrate in the material energies for function on earth. The spirit within is a finer vibration and must be accessed through the quieting of the mind and body to gain the spirit.
