The days of winter always seemed so gray to my sister and me as we watched the clouds set in and the trees starting to weigh heavy from the ice. We could always find something to do to keep our days moving at a pleasing pace. It was Momma who started the game. We dreamed together through words of warm summer days filled with laughter. Each of us took turns adding to the last persons story.
It was finally my turn. I had to follow up Momma, she had started with a playful picnic in the tall grass field. I started to tell of the floating fairy that was watching us. The fairy had a pink dress and sparkly hair. She was flitting from one person to the next. We all ran with her and giggled. We ran so far that before long we were in a forest. The fairy motioned for us to follow her. Soon we were presented with a beautiful waterfall and fairies all around. This was the city of the fairies. We were now a little concerned. Our hands grew wet as we held each other tight. There was nothing to fear in the beautiful land. It was just not a familiar place and we did have momma. The fairy that had guided us was now sitting on a stone and she began to speak to us. She explained how she had wandered away and found us and wanted to share us with her people.
One by one little fairy people came to see us. Each of them were nice and wanted to know more about us. They enjoyed our long hair and dresses. Momma said that we often tell stories to each other and would love for them to tell us a story of their lives. My sister was getting tired and wanted to go home, she was young and did not understand what a once in a life time opportunity this was. Momma explained to the fairies that she wanted to return one day and write about the fairies. The fairies agreed that she should do this. So, the fairy that brought us to the wonderland was ready to guide us home.
Back in the field we said goodbye to the fairy and agreed that she should meet us there again in week. She agreed. We were so excited to have met someone form this fairy world that would be our friend. Suddenly I remembered that we were in fairytale land and we were only in our living room. Momma said she enjoyed my story. Sister had fallen asleep and I was a little tired myself. Momma decided a nice nap would do some good.
As I lye in my bed I thought I saw a little fairy. I rubbed my eyes and I knew I was not dreaming. The fairy was really there. Had my story been for real, was it all a dream. I rubbed my eyes again. She was still there. She told me her name was Nikki and that she wanted to be sure that we would meet her in one week. She had a lot of surprises for us she said. I was at a loss for words. I just starred at her in amazement.
