The most common mistakes new Helium users make

Working with new members has opened my eyes to the mistakes which Helium members can so easily make when starting out. We all like to think that we can jump straight in and make a fortune, although it's not as easy as that. Neither is leaving Helium for a rainy day. Both examples give disappointing results, and this article is written to help new members avoid the common mistakes made by new Helium users, in an effort to help them avoid obstacles they put in their way on the road to success.

*Thinking Helium is a blog.
*Putting their names into articles.
*Layout and input onto the site.
*Advertising their web-site in an article.
*Expecting to reap fast benefits.
*Being too shy to write.
*Not filling out their profile.
*Not realizing the significance of quality.

Thinking Helium is a blog.

There are so many blogs on the Internet that this is possibly an understandable error. Blogs have a very different style in articles to Helium, and people who have used blogs as a manner of expressing themselves need to read many articles on this site before jumping in and making common errors. One of the most common is using abbreviated English and expecting to get good ratings. Words like "I" should always be in capital letters, poems should be laid out to the best of a user's ability, and short-form English isn't really acceptable.

You can get over all of these snags by reading the kind of articles which are on the site, and getting a feel for the place before posting. You can also read the site guidelines and get to understand the nature of what Helium want to see on their site.

Putting names into articles.

On many sites this is an acceptable practice. On Helium, however, since articles are rated anonymously, this is a definite mistake which will get your article flagged. If posting from other sites, always remember to take your name out of an article to gain the maximum benefit during ratings.

Layout and input onto the site.

Many new members type directly to the screen instead of to their own word processing program. This is always a mistake since the site is likely to time out and you will lose your work. It is also a good idea from a layout point of view to use a word processor, and to ensure that you have double spacing between your paragraphs. Paragraphs should never be long, as this is not easy for Internet readers to read. Often new members forget the significance of layout. It is essential to any Helium article that it is correctly and professionally presented.
