How to apply makeup

Although make up can be a bit tricky for the inexperienced hand there are a few basic steps that you should follow when you apply it. First off, start out with clean skin which has been moisturized. When your skin is clean your makeup will look fresh and clean. Applying moisturizer will provide a base for your foundation and powder so that it can be applied easily without pulling at the skin or leaving foundation looking streaky or dry.

The first step when applying make up is to apply a little concealer to cover up those flaws. The concealer should be lighter when covering up dark circles under the eye area and slightly greenish when cover up redness. Then apply the foundation making sure it is evenly spread and blended down to just below the chin line. Do not stop at the chin line as you will end up with two tone skin and for those who are afraid of getting make up on the collars of their clothing it is best to spread the make up to just below the chin line. Next you apply the loose powder or you can also use compact powder, to the whole face, brushing off any excess. When using powder it is best to use a natural shade.

The second step when applying make up is to apply the eye shadow to the eye making sure to blend in properly. The colors you choose should reflect on whether the make up is for day use, office use or night time. Colors used during the day should be light and not heavy; office make up should be subdued and more towards a natural look and night make up can be darker and more flamboyant. Once your eye shadow has been applied you can then apply your eyeliner. You can use either pencil form or liquid form which ever you feel comfortable using. Liquid eyeliner while it looks nice can be a bit tricky to apply and requires practice to get it just right.

The third step when applying make up is to apply your blusher. The blush should be applied in a triangle shape from the centre of your face even with the flair of your nostril and triangle out to your hair line. Try not to use a heavy hand and make it look as natural as possible. Apply blush color in the same tone as your lipstick will be.

The fourth step is to draw in your eyebrow making them look as natural as possible by using light feather strokes, not a heavy line. To measure the length of your brow take your eye brow pencil and line it up vertically with the flair of your nostril to the inner corner of your eye. Make a dot at the inner corner of your brow with your pencil. To check where the arch
