Yes, we should. But what if I told you there's nothing to release. At least not in the way you're thinking.
This question betrays an unintended ignorance of the asker. It's an outsiders view, and it assumes that the subject of UFO's and ET's operate in the same realm as that of, oh say, a courtroom transcript. The thinking goes, the United States simply must be the global repository of all documentation on these subjects. Let's just put pressure on those conspiratorial thugs in the U.S. Government who guard this secret. Let's demand release of this long-held information to the world public, who of course, have a right to know. Further, we know those Americans captured something at Roswell, and other recoveries have probably happened too. So there must be an exploding warehouse, a veritable treasure trove of documentation somewhere, that has all the good stuff. It's all there, just waiting to be released. Simply demand to know the truth, and if enough people ask, they will have to tell us, and the truth will set us free.
You would be wrong on all counts.
First, the UFO and ET phenomena are not just a U.S. phenomena, they are a global one. The U.S. has no corner on the UFO and ET market.
If the United States really was pressured by these three particular countries, the response should probably be "Sure, but you first. We'll show you our Roswell, but you show us what crashed at Marsanny-le-Bois in France in 2002. And at Llandrillo, Clwyd, Wales, UK in 1974. And at Varginha, Brazil in 1996."
My guess is that ET will be listening to the sound of global chirping crickets after that.
Now consider that 7% of all the people in the world have reported seeing a UFO. These are just the reported sightings. The vast majority of sightings are n-e-v-e-r reported. Keep in mind, sightings themselves are nothing special. Mere sightings are the junk noise in the subject of UFO's and ET's. If you haven't seen a UFO yourself, I guarantee you you've known or met someone who has. Yet apparently even this junk noise is a powerful and spooky deterrent to open self-disclosure by the majority of ordinary citizenry. They are too timid, scared or afraid of ridicule to come forth even on mere sightings. Now, this is the same stalwart citizenry, by the way, that folks think could handle full disclosure. Yet we expect our government, one that is run by these same kinds of people, to somehow act differently.
So that brings us to that mysterious treasure trove of documentation. Not the junk noise of
