How to apply makeup

Applying make up is basically simple, but there are certain parts that can be a bit tricky. Pretty much everything that I know about make up I taught myself from tips I read online, or learned through experimentation. This is the way I do it:

I start with eyeshadow (if it is a day when I feel like using it, which isn't everyday). I only use powder eyeshadow, and apply it with the little sponge thingie that comes in the package. I close one eye and lightly shadow it from the very bottom (next to my lashes), all of the way up to my eyebrows. * I really like to use white eyeshadow, as it seems to open up my eyes and it helps to make my lashes show more, and appear fuller.

After eyeshadow I line my eyes (this is something that I do every time that I apply make up). I use either a liquid or a pencil eyeliner in black. I only line the bottoms of my eyes, because I have heard that is supposed to help your eyes to appear larger and I have very small eyes. I pull gently at the corner of the eye that I am applying the liner to, then I start on either end and make a thin line as close to the lash as I can get. * I am lazy, so if I mess up my eyeliner I just smudge it all and go for a smoky look. :)

After eyeliner I apply my mascara, usually what I use is black Covergirl Lash Blast - I love the plastic applicator. If I am feeling particularily lazy I will just use clear mascara. I either coat my top lashes only, or I coat both top and bottom, depending how I am feeling. When applying mascara I keep my eyes open and apply one eye at a time (no, really?!), starting very near the lid and moving out slowly. * If my mascara clumps, or appears uneven, I hold my finger close to my lashes and slowly close my eye causing the excess to come off on my finger.

When my eyes are done I apply foundation, I really like Maybelline Mouse Matte foundation, it's like a powder and foundation combined. I dip my finger in the foundation and then I put a dab each on my cheeks, a dab on my forehead, on my chin, and a tiny bit on my nose. I rub in the foundation using a circular motion. * Since I started using Matte foundation I have basically stopped using powder - no more flaky, dry skin.

Recenty I have started using a bronzer, and I use it most of the time that I apply any make up - especially now in the winter with my paling skin. I dust very gently with the bronzer on my cheeks while smiling a big fake smile, and then I usually smooth it out a bit with my fingers.

That's it, that is my make up routine. Simple as that.

Throughout the day as I sweat I've started to use oil blotting sheets to gently "erase" any oil on my face. This works well over wearing powder.
