Forgiveness alludes me
from wounds of long ago.
Like angry waves of hurt
It tosses me to and fro.
My heart was broken,
Our family torn apart.
I just can't find the place
Where forgiveness can start.
My heart was open
On our son's wedding day.
I would see you with her
And the pain might go away.
But you were a coward,
And would not show your face.
Gone was willingness to forgive;
Bitterness had taken it's place.
Of all my life's trials,
Forgiving you is the one
that's ever out of reach
I just can't get it done.
