I thought I'd write about a topic close to my heart; humour. I enjoy comedy and love laughing so I've picked my top 10 to share with you. Sadly though, pretty much all of these shows are over now, except for some of them being repeated on TV from time to time.
Apart from the first one which is my all time favourite, the others are in no particular order.
FRIENDS
Friends was and remains my absolute favourite show ever (never mind in just the comedy category). People all around the world loved this show which is evidenced by the fact that the 6 stars of the show are world famous and pretty damn rich now! I really do miss the cast of Jennifer Aniston as the shopaholic Rachel, Courtney Cox as the neurotic Monica Bing (nee Geller), Lisa Kudrow as the kooky Phoebe Hannigan (nee Buffay), David Schwimmer as the geeky 3 times married Ross Geller, Matt Leblanc as the nice but dim actor Joey Tribbiani and Matthew Perry as eternal joker Chandler Bing. They stayed together for 10 series (and each of them appeared in every single one of the 237 episodes) and by the time the show ended they were all household names. I've seen every single episode at least twice, some of them 5 or 6 times. Episodes from various series are still shown several times a week in the UK on terrestrial TV if you've never caught an episode before. I'll admit to shedding a tear when watching the last episode of series 10; I miss my "friends"!
The show was about the life and times of 6 good friends from their mid 20s to mid 30s and their various relationships, jobs and families. Even watching the repeats I find myself laughing out loud! Friends was created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman.
There were many famous guest stars over the years including: Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Freddie Prince Jnr, Helen Baxendale, Elle McPherson, Tom Selleck, Kathleen Turner (as Chandler's cross-dressing DAD), George Clooney, Jennifer Saunders, Tom Conti, Alec Baldwin, Julia Roberts, Ben Stiller, Charlton Heston and Isabella Rossellini.
Friends won countless awards during its 10 year stint, if I started listing them here, I'd be here for 10 years!
HAPPY DAYS
Ah Fonzarelli and gang, who hasn't heard of The Fonz? Henry Winkler (what a dodgy name) starred as Arthur 'Fonzie' Fonzarelli in the American sitcom Happy Days which ran from 1974 - 1984 and was set in 50s America. It was a real feel good show which also starred Marion Ross as Marion Cunningham, Tom Bosley as Howard Cunningham, Ron Howard and Erin Moran
