New year crept in this night,
no fireworks, like a small war breaking out;
but the war in my heart
goes on-
you have cut me out of your life,
as neat and precise as a surgeon would
in a delicate operation;
and be it pride, or prejudice, or being a woman-
I let you.
you never did let me know why-
why you stopped talking to me;
why you erased me from your life;
discarded like a revised sermon.
you left, but someone will arrive,
a force to be reckoned with,
nature abhors a vacuum,
i meet my fate.
you did not take my dreams from me,
they live on, despite you;
nor did you put out the candle in my heart
that i keep lit for you,
just in case.
that is all i have now,
that is all i am left with
just in case.

Hoping that one day, my love I will find
It happened just as I thought.
Only time will tell
If I have earned
every line on my
face.
Only time will tell
If enduring was
worth it.
Only time will tell
