Assessing the impact of the Allen Iverson trade

The question of the article is a very good one, very interesting. Allen Iverson is a bona fide future hall of famer for sure with his credentials minus a world championship ring. The trade was without question a good one for the Denver Nuggets they needed a true point guard, got one in big shot Chauncey Billups. The Denver Nuggets was a collection of run,gun all offense, no defense. That has since change somewhat with the addition of Chauncey Billups. The trade that was engineer by general manager Joe Dumars for his Detroit Pistons part is very interesting. The Pistons got a offensive machine in Allen Iverson but no defense, the Pistons was always recognize for they grit ,defense dating back to Joe Dumars championship Pistons teams.

The Pistons loss Chauncey leadership, thats something that was sorely missing in Denver. I am sure Denver coach George Karl job got alittle easier with the re-addition of Chauncey. He is a champion, that is also what has been lacking on Denver dispite having Olympic winner Carmello Anthony on its roster. The Nuggets can always score but don't play defense but with Chauncey addition it should go along way in helping. The Pistons on the other hand just needs to continue to get Allen involved in the plays, yes pratice. I did say pratice the old saying pratice makes perfect. Allen makes steals with his quickness, can of course create his own shot. The overall impact of the Allen trade was really be determine till the playoffs.

Both teams had to shakeup they rosters after failing in the playoffs in recent years. Both teams are very well aware they are lacking something to compete with the Celtics, Lakers,Spurs. I think Pistons coach Michael Curry is a very good addition to them team, his playing experience should help them overall. I also think Rip Hamilton, Allen Iverson will eventually mesh before the playoffs, the regular season is the time to that together. Allen Iverson of course aint the player he was when he took the 76ers to the finals in 2001. He of course like us all has gotten older but he is a elite athlete, a icon a superstar. This just might be his last shot for a championship. He has always been a warrior never taken a night off, always given it his all. His contract is in its final months which was another reason why both teams made the trade especially the Pistons. But the impact of this trade is never really determine till the playoffs if both teams go far good trade. If the Pistons win another championship it will be a great trade of course for them.

Allen Iverson is a great player, being along time Philly fan i have seing his show to many times to count. So any team getting a Allen Iverson should count themselves lucky if not for the box office alone.
