New beginnings is what most of us need and want. New Year resolutions are worth making since they inspire us and give us that fresh start. Taking time to reflect on our individual life is essential throughout our whole life. It is what makes us human. The drive to live on and improve our life is the core of who we are. No matter how perfect we are or how great we are doing, there are always areas we can improve on and do better. It is this process which makes us happy with a sense of well being and every day we believe that life is worth living.
How happy am I? What can I do do or not do to be happier? Analyze the obstacles to being happier and set up a plan to remove them. These will be your general resolutions. Write them down in your computer or a notebook. Keep this private. Write down specifics you are going to do daily to reach the goal you want to achieve. Have a gradual start but accelerate it each day. Every week and month try to have a review of your progress. Be positive and kind to yourself!
A healthy body not only makes us happier but it is the physical means to do everything else no matter what age. If you are healthy your resolution is to stay healthy. Just keep doing what you are doing. If not, then make a resolution to get as healthy as possible. Eat well, exercise, breathe fresh air, and get enough sleep.
Illnesses prevent us from being content since our body just cannot do what we want or should do. This is indeed an obstacle but most are temporal or manageable. Your family doctor can clarify what you have and what you can do about it daily and in the months to come. Specialists can further refine specific health issues you may have. Your resolution is to overcome the temporal health issues and manage the long term ones.
Having a terminal illness is more of a reason to live more fully each day and do everything you can to be able to enjoy life. Your doctors can tell you what to do do. Each case is different but the key is to focus on living each moment. Do as much as you can with family, friends, and neighbors. Enjoy who and what is before you each moment even if it is just the sunset you see in your window. Never give up hope. Each day there are new discoveries to cure diseases. Why not yours?
Being healthy emotionally is essential. If you are just keep on living. If you feel like an emotional reck or just don't have a hold of your emotions or feelings, then make a resolution to be the master rather than a slave to your pschylogical self. Analyze
