Have you ever picked cotton? I have, under the 100 degree South Texas sun as a teenager. Two days convinced me to figure out another way to make spending money as a teenager one summer. The immigrant laborers working with me were amused at my cotton picking efforts, they were accustomed to the back-breaking work and I was not. I found something else to do, cutting lawns for the neighbors.
The United States of America has been built upon the backs of immigrant labor, going all the way back to the days of slavery. With 95% of our population employed, the 5% left seeking jobs are not necessarily skilled, qualified, or willing to take the jobs available. No sane parent would want to see their teenager join a group of migrant workers working their way northward each spring. If you really want to see Americans doing field labor, please be prepared to pay double at the supermarket for your produce, or more.
I really think that blaming immigrants for working in unpleasant jobs is a way to vent frustration by those having difficulty finding work. I would wager that, truth be known, the large majority of those complaining have absolutely no interest in any of those same jobs. People love to whine and complain, it is easier than taking responsibility for their own possible shortcomings.
I say yes, emphatically, that immigrants do, for the most part, do the jobs Americans don't want. I also demand that immigrants working here must be legal! That is my only concern about immigrant laborers.
