Best of 2008: Music album

The year 2008 brought several new albums on the scene from different genres. Mariah Carey, Brian Adams, Whitney Houston, and many others lent their talents to the music scene.

ACDC's , Black Ice, was released on October 20th, 2008. It has been eight years since they had recorded an album, and it was defiantly worth the wait. Being a huge ACDC fan, I had to have a copy and right off I could tell they still have what it takes.

The first week alone Black Ice sold 784,000 copies, and shipped 5,000,000 copies world wide. That's no surprise considering most of their albums have hit the number one spot.

What makes them so popular? Is it Angus Young's schoolboy uniform? Well that is his trademark. Maybe that has something to do with it, but I think its their style of music. They also have a fantastic stage presence.

Metallica released Death Magnetic, September 12, 2008. I have always been a fan of Metallica, but this album was a huge disappointment. It seemed to have a lot of static, and the music drowned out the words. What happened, Metallica? It was a total waste of money.

Another blast from the past Guns And Roses. Chinese Democracy was released in November, 2008. It's been 17 years since Guns And Roses released an album. It was okay, but not really worth the money.

In August 2008 Staind released the Illusion of Progress. Believe was the first single released from the album. It is a great song and easy to relate to. The whole album is actually good but kind of on the feeling side, break ups, relationships, I think you know what I mean. The kind of album you have to be in the mood for.

Bryan Adams ,11 was released in March 2008. The title 11 was chosen because it was his 11th album of original material, and it only has 11 songs. It is a pretty good album and it is his style.

Ozzy is the one I am truly waiting on. Yes I know he can do WOW commercials, but he's also the best singer that ever lived. His career has spanned over four decades, and he keeps going. He came out with Black Rain in 2007, but I can't get enough of Ozzy. He's on tour now with Rob Zombie as his guest, and I'm hoping for good things from him in 2009.

My pick out of all the new albums released in 2008, is Black Ice, from ACDC. The band from Sydney, Australia, that took their name from the back of a sewing machine, and made it to the top.

The past is trying to catch the future and its doing a great job so far. Classic rock has always been my favorite, and though it may fade for a time, it always returns. Rock and Roll is here to stay.

Bonn Scott you are missed but the boys carried on. If you could see them now you would be proud. ACDC's famous words, "For those about to rock, we salute you."
