LOSS

I miss you.

It could have been a cloudy day,

or maybe there was sun

I don't really recall;

Except the the sweet sound of your voice

enters my waking dream.

My heart flutters in anticipation

Morning light is sobering

clearing the haze from my eyes.

Beside me the empty pillow remains,

I trace your outline, humming

that old forgotten melody

you pretended not to love

Smiling softly;

remembering how you used to

look at me, with passion in

your eyes,

Saying how

you will never leave.

I look up,

to see your shadow on the wall

the one you carelessly

left behind,

silly to think you will come back

for it,

on silvered wings.

I will wait.
