"Just take what you got and put it
All together."
If you throw in some pretty words,
It'll make it
All better.
Keep tellin' yourself.
Oh, but you don't have a thought?
Well, what ya gonna do with nothing?
And with your mind, you've fought,
But now you're pullin it, like, low-key.
That isn't gonna fly like
You wish it would.
And procrastinating
Isn't gonna make it "all good"
So, take your excuses
And turn em into reasons
To WRITE!
And not leave your 'folio with lesions
So yeah, pick up that pen
Ooops I mean put down webpage
And find yourself a topic
Get to it, before you age
Don't worry 'bout the pretty,
Jus' keep those words flowin'
You'll have a piece before you know and
Then comes the happy you get every time
When the screen gets all filled up.
It's like Pizza-In-A-Cup,
Yeah I'm a jerk
But there's nothing keeping me from
Gettin' to work,
'Cause I've got the time anyway.
No need waiting for a rainy day;
It's the perfect storm
Right in here
Where it's nice and warm.
Take that, Block! and it is your world
That I, the writer, am going to rock.
Ah, well. Nevermind that.
My desk is warm
Because my arm so long there sat.
Leave the edit behind and off I go
Into another place where I can show
Off my skills in all their
Lackluster glory.
Smoke another cigarette,
Come up with a story
Why I still have no substance
To write down with this pen
Maybe it'll come to me then.
Until that time, I'll do my best
To pretend
That once I'm done typing
I should actually hit Send.
OK "publish", so it happens to be,
It's all one in the same.
One thing is certain though -
Having nothing to say
Is positively pretty lame.
Maybe it's the way you say it.
With all that said, I guess
I might hit that "I'm Done" button,
See how "nothing at all" looks
When it's in print.
And hopefully not worry about
The many long minutes I spent
On this.
