Poetry: On love

by Jared Chamberlain

Created on: December 30, 2008

When I hold you in my arms

It is your warmth that encompasses me,

My haven from the wind

That sweeps away my emotion.

Your touch quenches my skin

With the warmness and comfort of a summer eve's shower,

Assuring my heart that it does not love in vain,

But that you are real.

And in your eyes

I behold the mystery and splendor

Of the numberless celestial bodies that riddle the night sky

Like diamonds upon a black velvet eternity

My heart wants for you

With unparalleled sentiments of anxiety
And thirsts for your tenderness that sustains my soul
More than for the air that sustains my breath.

In these thoughts do I revel

And I thank Almighty God for every day

That mine eyes have set sight upon this seraph's face

So many things that I long to say

Yet I know that words can do no justice,

But when you captivate me with your loving gaze

It is not words, but silence that is the sweetest sound.
