Why do we make New Years Resolutions? A New Year is the best time to begin anew. This is the best time make positive changes. One of these years, I will follow through with my resolutions and maybe 2009 just may be "MY" year.
Have you ever noticed as the holidays are winding down, the magazines cover pages are plastered with How to lose those unwanted pounds or how to get out of debt.
How many people ponder what their resolutions will be? How many times do you either think or hear, "After the New Year, I will lose the weight or save money"? I am guilty of doing just that.
To me, New Years is a symbol of putting the past in the pastand starting over, fresh and new. Some start working on their resolution list months in advanceothers have just recently began pondering the ideas. Sometimes looking back I actually verbalize out loud"Wow, what have I accomplished this year"? I say; "More debt and weight!" seriously that is the truth. Sad but true~ as we all know many of us are experiencing financial crisis in one way or another.
I, for one, have just this past weekend started to reflect on the past year and all that has happened. I've come up with a list of things that really needs changing in order to bring more comfort in my future. So, I've vowed to myself to try really hard to conquer the changes that I've written.
My list continues to growI put the goals in order by priority each one takes in my life.
Lose Weight! (eat better/healthier)
Get involved with a church here in my town!
Take what I learned at Joel Osteen on 12/5/08 and use it in my life!
Get involved with Balance and follow through!
Write each and everyday!
Get more organized!
Create an action plan for moving to SC within 2 years.
It is not quite 12/31/08, and that really looks like a lot but that is okbecause it will be me and only me to make these things happen. No one can stop me but me. I know that if I put my mind to it, I can do anything!
If we think a bit more positive, we may find that life will go more positive. Too many people just give up but if you really want something you can make it happen.
Do you know how many people make such list as I did, each and every year? How often do we really follow through? Sadly, not very many! But having the courage to actually set a goal or plan for yourself is brave. Sometimes it works to just keep them to yourself as to not feel so guilty if you take a few steps backwards. And if you do find yourself messing upjust pick up where you are and continue on with the plan. And remember YOU CAN DO IT!
