Let him, they said, walk tall,
Alone, afraid of the shadows
That fill his every thought.
Let him succumb to a life of pain
And give his all for strangers,
Vile, earthly brethren that will
Suck the life right out of him.
Let him walk, tall and so alone,
Afraid of the brightness
That overwhelms his dark thoughts
And then let death summon him.
In silence, he will acquiesce amid
Screams and protests of fury
And restrained weeping, and then
He will rest.
