Poetry: Let him

by Victoria Montgomery

Created on: December 30, 2008   Last Updated: June 30, 2009

Let him, they said, walk tall,

Alone, afraid of the shadows

That fill his every thought.

Let him succumb to a life of pain

And give his all for strangers,

Vile, earthly brethren that will

Suck the life right out of him.

Let him walk, tall and so alone,

Afraid of the brightness

That overwhelms his dark thoughts

And then let death summon him.

In silence, he will acquiesce amid

Screams and protests of fury

And restrained weeping, and then

He will rest.
