into his grandmothers house after her death, Don needs a lodger which is where Abby comes in. As a teenager Don fell in love with Abby but once she has moved in Don finds out she is not single.
Much of the show is based around Don's escapades and attempts to win over Abby which as you'd expect generally end disastrously. Like all great comedy actors, Don has absolutely no self-awareness doesn't realise just how much people despise him, even at the pivotal point where he is reminded that his grandma nicknamed him Dickhead.' There are some fantastic imagined scenarios which although have been done before, are compiled with a high degree of aplomb that can compare with the likes of Family Guy in its witty randomness. One of my favourites is Don's response to being sacked whereby he smacks his boss round the head with a keyboard.
Yet again, this is a must see for comedy lovers with a second series on the way in 2009.
So, those are my favourite comedies of 2008, each with its own unique twist on the genre. They all follow the same traditions of a self-obsessed main characters, often cringeworthy characters but most importantly laugh out loud moments. Oh, I almost forgot, the BBC show Lab Rats was incredibly painful to watch and anyone with a weak stomach should avoid it like the plague. Please have a look on YouTube to make sure I'm not missing something. However thankfully, Summer Heights High, The Inbetweeners and How Not To Live Your Life have saved my comedy life for 2008.
