It is fitting for a group that has misapplied God's original plan to have leaders that embrace and embody the true spirit of the Christian ideology. "Christian" churches have the market cornered when it comes to applying the biggest con scheme in society today. The priest's job is to lead the people in spiritual matters. Being a Christian priest this would presumably mean leading in matters of Christ. The purpose of a leader is to guide people who are lost or are not sure of the way. The best way to lead is by example.
If you read the accounts of the Bible in the King James version, it would not be hard to make a case that Jesus was gay. He never married presumably. He lead a gypsy life, moving from town to town. He was always surrounded by at least twelve men. There are accounts of men kissing Jesus. Jesus was always preaching about brotherly love. All of these acts point to a homosexual lifestyle. Nowhere does it talk about Jesus tending a nuclear family as we think of it with mother, father and children.
As churches talk the talk of accepting and loving everyone, they should walk the walk. Perhaps if we allowed what goes on in a person's bedroom to stay in thier bedroom then it would have less impact on a how a person is viewed. A person's sexual preference is only one facet of their personality. All people are multi-faceted. If you start rejecting candidates for ordained priesthood based on one factor that some consider a flaw then where does the discrimination stop. Everybody is flawed in one way or another. What makes one perceived flaw worse than another.
The most important thing to consider here is for people to understand truly why they are seeking "Christian" leading. If it is to understand Jesus and his way then a gay person can tell the story and regurgitate history as well if not better than a straight person. A homosexual can teach and preach on giving, loving, and being good just as well as a heterosexual. Gay priest will have first hand knowledge when counseling troubled homosexual church attendees. The only problem would come if you needed marital advice on how to deal with your spouse (of the opposite sex). A homosexual would probably not be the best authority on this subject.
So in conclusion, gays not only should be considered for priesthood, it should be a requirement. Either homosexual or heterosexual is the way the truth and the light. If you think about it though if homosexuality was the way, why invent another sex and have procreation in the form of sexual intercourse at all. There can only be one right here. It is best to decide for yourself which is right for you.
