Are people born gay?

According to Plato, in the beginning there were three sexes: the all males, the all females and the androgynous who were a combination of both and truly incredible beings. These androgynous beings had four arms and legs and two faces that looked in different directions.

At some point, the gods became angry with humankind and split all beings in half, scattering those halves around the world. Eventually, the all males found their halves and reunited, remaining with men. Likewise the all females were also reunited with their original halves and became lesbians. The androgyns, however, never having seen what their other halves looked like were doomed to wander the earth, trying on halves that often did not fit. Plato called this "The Longing for Completion."

While this is only a myth, it goes far in explaining homosexuality and the promiscuity of heterosexuals. For me, it is as good an explanation as any. To believe that God did not create homosexuals is just erroneous thinking, particularly for Christians who would deny evolution and support the Creation theory. If God created humankind and all that exists in heaven and earth, then He must have created homosexuals. Otherwise, where did homosexuals come from? Perhaps they were dumped here by aliens? But wait, if God created everything that exists in heaven and earth then He must also have created the aliens that brought the homosexuals to earth. Thus, He created homosexuals.

Or perhaps that mythical being Satan created homosexuals. Yes, that must be it, no-it can't be. Only God has the power to create life and God created humankind in his image. First man, then woman from man-wow, that makes Eve the first transgender being. So God is responsible for trangenderism at the very least.

There are persons born with the sex organs of both male and females. These are called hermaphrodites or intersexuals. Didn't God create them? Or are they the product of mating with aliens or Satan? Ultimately, if God created everything above, below and on this earth, then God created hermaphrodites, who would be homosexuals regardless of which sex they ultimately are attracted to.

The argument is circular and redundant. We could engage in rhetoric over it ad nausem but it all comes back to the same thing. If God is responsible for life on earth and all that exists in the universe and beyond, then God created homosexuals.

In any case, homosexuality predates recorded history as archeology digs have uncovered evidence of third and fourth genders among American Native artifacts dating back 5000 years or more. Other archaeological discoveries in other parts of the world place the origin of gender awareness in the Paleolithic era. But what does it matter? Perhaps you are your brother's keeper, but you are not his judge.
