Searching For Wisdom

And the old man running out of steam, he lays down for his final scene Words of wisdom, the memories are racing like a monkey swinging from the trees
Any words, any last advice? He just gives me a smile and closes his eyes
He said son you know all the answers you'll find are in you

Once upon a cold winters' night I came upon a dream, went for a ride
What I saw I just couldn't believe, the faces from the past had come back alive
Good and bad and friends and foes, They're lined along the way of the path I had chose
I know each of them in their own way, they took me to school

Maybe it's why I can't find myself, because I've left behind all the pieces of me
Unsent letters lead to closing chapters, Christmas card list is left empty
The one birthday party I don't want to miss, That babe in the manger if I had one wish
Quench the fires and bring me peace, and educate this silly old fool
