I agree with Josh Howell and I would like to add to it if I may.
The news keep telling us that Carter was a great President but we not only had double digit inflation we also had high unemployment. That was in the late 70's we also had long gas lines.
The House and Senate was controlledby the Democrats, but Carter nor the Congress took the blame for the problems that we were having then. It was always the Republicans fault or something else that caused the problem. It was never their higher taxes or their their idea of if there is a problem throw money at it and if that amount didn't work then throw more money at it, and if you needed more money raise taxes to get it. Yet the problem never was fixed.
The News media has backed them up with it from the get go and they keep doing it.
One classic example is the public schools. they come at us every year for the same thing of more money for the teachers. They also say that it will benefit the children. The teachers need more money. Yet every year the academic test scores keep going down. Why ?
Now they tell us that It is G.W.s fault for the scores going down. The scores were going down a lot longer than G.W. been around yet they are blaming him. Lets look at the major problem with the school systems we have in place New York City spends about 15,000 per student per year. Yet they have raised their test scores in years fact is they keep going down. California is a colse second in what they spend per student. Texas is spending about 8,500 per student and I believe that Idaho is near the bottom in teacher pay. Yet the highest per student spending is where there are the worse test scores.
One might think that it should be the other way around but better than three quarter of the students in New York and in California can't point out their own state on a map, They can't read a simple first grade book from years ago, they can't spell their own name, much less fill out an Job Application.
There have been times that people have called for vochers and letting the people choose where they would like to send their children to. Yet every time the Teachers Union have Opposed it as well as the Democrat Party and the pews media. They know if voucher system was ever in place they would loose more than half of their funding.
George W. Bush pushed for a vocher systems in the no child left behind act. But Teddy Kennedy was there to pull the plug on the vocher idea from the on set of it. Teddy was well paid by the Teachers Union to see that
