What is moral is not a personal choice. Personal choice is a "standard." We have personal standards on moral and ethical and many other issues in life. Morality is not a thing defined by individuals. Morality is something that either has in the past, or still does give reasons for one's standards. Morals are not man made. They are written on the tablets of the human heart by God.
I believe every person who has a will of his own will have standards that are founded upon moral beliefs. Moral beliefs are not morals, but are based on ones moral standards. I believe the foundation of morality to be God. I believe that good moral decisions will always have their sights set upon the hearts of others. I believe that moral values are about leading the way to good and truth, and not about pointing the way. I believe that being a moral person is not about who we are, but about how we effect others. I believe a moral lifestyle, in the perfect sense, cannot be achieved, but must be our vision. If one is to be morally upright, he must seek the one who is the very foundation of morality. All other foundations are descending, and will end in the dark.
No matter what society does, morality will always remain a personal matter. No matter the laws or the cultural standards, each person will still have to face the his own moral choices. Our moral choices may seem to be intolerant. Our moral standard may look like a "holier than thou" attitude. Personal moral standards may be in conflict with the way of society. In any case, our moral standards will be our conscience and our judge.
While morality doesn't change, personal moral standards may change based on choices made. Those choices may improve or lower our moral standards, but they do not change what is morally true.
Man missed the mark regarding morals. That is why God has designed a judgment. Sin cannot enter God's Heavenly Kingdom, so He gave us Jesus, the Savior, to stand in our place, if we will seek His presence there. He is the one who has designed morality, and morality requires judgment.
I believe God has not only carved His moral truths in our hearts, but He has shown mankind the truths of who He is through His creation. He has made known to us His awesome character through what He has created. This has been made so clear that His word says that we are "without excuse."
Personal morals will never be eliminated, however because of one's lifestyle it may be dimmed, and become very undefined in some. This is caused by the hardening of the heart toward the Creator. The more we walk in immorality, the less we will recognize moral truth. This deadens the conscience and is the very thing that caused Jesus to say that "Ye must be born again."
Societies and cultures may not have any moral standards, but every man will still have to deal with his own heart and the moral laws carved there by our maker.
