A Christmas Sonnet
Shall I explain to thee of Christmas Day,
And why it's something that we celebrate?
For God so loved the world, as if to say,
"I send My Son to you to change your fate."
The Father's love embodied in the Son,
Who showed us how to live a better Way
Of Peace, Hope, Joy and Love for everyone.
Like fools, we crucified Him anyway.
That day of darkness, hopelessness, and loss,
The hatred, scorn and torture He forgave;
Endured it all and died upon a cross,
Pinned by the sins of those He came to save.
We celebrate the birth because He died,
Then rose again to call us to His side
