Bollywood movies are great, and what really sets them apart from their Hollywood counterparts is their great music. To narrow down my list, here are some of the relatively recent good songs and they're all sad to a certain extnt.

1. Kal Ho Naa Ho from Kal Ho Naa Ho: It's sad, inspirational, it has lovely music, wonderful lyrics, and it's picturised on Shahrukh Khan. All the criteria for being a favourite.

2. Bebasi Dard ka Alam from Baabul: Once again, the lyrics steal the show. And the singer has done a great job and rendering them with all the emotion required. You really want to give your pains away.
3. Aashayen from Iqbal: The lyrics of this song also are very inspirational. They make you want to go and so something about all your dreams and hopes.
4. Main Hoon Na(Sad) from Main Hoon Na: Although the actual version of the song is also very good, I prefer this one because it has more emotion in the lyrics. It's really sad to listen to, but at the same time, enjoyable. Contradictory, I know, but try to see how you feel about it.
5. Ajnabi Shahr from Jaaneman: The music, lyrics, and singing is great in this song also. It makes you want to watch the movie.

I'll stop here but there are many more songs just waiting to be heard. That will have to wait for another day though.
