For years, in the past, every person has valued good morals and right conduct. There were only a very few who didn't care what people thought and what people said if they didn't do what was right. But nowadays, morality seems just something like fashion that makes one do what ever he or she wants regardless if it is right or wrong.

Good moral values seemed to be only things in the past. Nobody cares anymore about being proper. Girls who have been too prim and proper in the olden days are now too aggressive in the way they talk, act and behave. Boys who usually were too concerned about the girls and who were once too dedicated in their image being protectors of the weaker sex are now themselves perpetrators of sex harassment.

When I was a teenager, boys our age would always stay with us to protect us from any untoward incidents and not to harrash us. In my time, those with boyfriends cannot hold hands together because once a boy holds the hand of the girl, they need to marry. In those times, I didn't have a boyfriend yet but one of my friends has. They never went out together aone. They always had a chaperon who was my friend's sister. Girls before dressed modestly. They didn't wear shorts and dresses that were too short.

Young people in the olden times spoke in appropriate language. They didn't know how to curse and say bad words. They were always courteous and used language appropriate for young people their age. Even the movies that they watched were very pleasant ones. And the magazines they read were fit for young people. If there were bold movies and magazines, it wasn't that easy to get. Young people were safe from pornographic materials. Today, when you go to public places, there are pornographic items on the side walks being vended. Bold pictures are all over places where one could easily have access to it. This is why so many of the young boys and girls engage in illicit sex even at a very young age. They are exposed to so many pornographic materials that lead them go astray.

How many people nowadays prefer the live-in arrangement? There are countless of them and when asked why, their only answer is to avoid a mistake when marrying. In the olden days, divorce and annulment seems an unknown word to many people but today seems so different in that people think of divorce and annulment first before getting married. A single mistake will lead a spouse filing for a divorce. Nobody seems to value what marriage is all about.

People nowadays are too busy to even think if what they are doing is right or wrong. Few people care about their fellowmen. While people in the olden times are too intent on not making something very embarrassing, people of today don't care anymore. Those who are supposed to be our models are the once doing the most embarrassing incidents. We cannot say that public personalities could be our models because a lot of them lack moral values.

Our priests who are supposed to be the top most moral values educators are involved in many immoral scandals and our celebrities also aren't exempted in unpleasant issues. Those who think they are morally upright aren't what they think they are. They just are very good in hiding their flaws and preventing them from coming out to the public.

What will happen to the next generations to come? Will there be people who will be morally upright after two or three decades? I hope time won't come when not a single chid knows how to greet and say good words to elders. Right now I'm totally disturbed how young people of today are behaving.
