Preparing for an exam involves a combination of rest, relaxation, efficient time management, class participation, focus, proper nutrition, study space and review. The combination of all the above will give you a better result on your test.
So, Here you are, towards the end of a long and rewarding semester. You've attended all of your classes, taken effective notes, been extremely inquisitive, completed every homework assignment on time and meticulously reviewed your notes. Now, it all comes down to that precious moment. This moment is the day you take your final exams. The feeling is bitter sweet.
It inches closer and closer. You can't think about anything else other than passing the test with flying colors. Now that you've put in hard work over the last four month, it's time to claim your prize. Here is how.
Time management
Let's begin with time management. Time is everything. This is the process of delegating your time appropriately for certain tasks. To properly prepare for your test, you must first set aside a certain amount of time every day to give to it. It is helpful to begin this process at least two weeks before your exam. This is to give you time to go over each part. Set aside 30 -45 minutes of study time a day. Give this amount of time to each subject you have a test on. Keep a timer with you to keep you on track. Once your time is up, that's it.
Class Participation
It is essential to participate in class discussions. Why? You never know if something the teacher talks about during class will be on the test. Be alert and attentive. Take notes during the lecture. Ask questions if you do not understand something. I guarantee that what you talk about in class will stay with you for the test. It just does. When we take an active part in something, we remember it longer.
Focus
When you are in college, there are going to be many distractions. Your friends may call you or want you to go out to the club. You have to keep in mind what you are in school for. You have to stay focused on the task ahead. Once you pass your finals, then you can celebrate, but until then, you must remain fixated on doing well on your tests.
Study Area
Where you study is just important as engaging in it. As I mentioned previously, you need to be focused on passing your test. You can not do this if you are in a loud area like the dorm lounge or eating area. Do not go to your room either. This is the place you rest and relax. It is best to go to the library. Find a quiet spot that is well
