How to secure your wireless network

Wifi (Wireless Network) these days are used in everyday life, like transferring music around the house and surfing the net around the house and transferring data around the house, but some people might be aware that other people can hack computers over Wifi, or use your Internet without permission.

But there are ways you can stop this, but it all adds up to securing your wireless network.

Securing your wireless network is fairly easy and you don't have to be an expert to secure your network because everything will be explained in detail and please, do not stress yourself if it does not work.

Firstly, I would change the security of the key you need to access the network. When you first get your wireless network the default security is WEP which is a 16 digit code for your network, it is the lowest setting, however you can change the setting and make it into WPA which is the highest. To change the security, you have to go to your program which came with your router but if you have bt homehub, then open your Internet browser and type in '192.168.1.1' but if that does not work use 'bthub.config'. When you are in you have to go to security and change there are links on the page how to do it.

Secondly, you should install a firewall, people suggest ZoneAlarm Pro, which is a great software which makes your network free from spyware and any hackers or intruders.

Moreover, you need a firewall and I would suggest Avast for a anti-virus but if you want a free anti virus, you should get AVG, it does everything a normal anti-virus does.

Those were ways you could do it with a PC or laptop, however you can help, by switching of your router when you are not going to use it for a long period of time.

Although you might think this is all long, this might save you from being hacked or people seeing your personal details like your credit card numbers and phone numbers, basically your identity.

Although there are positives, there are negatives like when you connect a new device, like a psp, laptop and now phones, it may take longer to make the first connection because the code is longer and it needs to get through more security boundaries to get in but after the first connection, it will be quicker.

TIPS:-
