When you think of the people who lived centuries before us
If they came back today, would the like or abhor us ?
We're richer - and smarter - more advanced, oh, by far
Or have we gone backwards - isn't that where we are ?
Back then life was simpler, but all shared the dream
Of making life better - and so it would seem
That we're there- we've achieved it - but is it so great ?
There's a decrease in love and an increase in hate.
And work hard for the good life ? Nah, only fools wait -
Our parents worked hard and were their lives so great ?
Sell sex on the street, guns and drugs in the alley
Who cares who gets killed - who's keeping a tally ?
Pimps and dealers get rich and I'm sure they don't worry
About the mother's and father's whose children we bury
In increasing numbers from AIDS and addiction
Can anyone tell me with any conviction that what I am saying is all based on fiction ?
Once life had been God's gift but now it's a choice
But not for the babies who haven't a voice
Nor for the elders for whom care is denied
Because they're on Medicare - no one at their side
To fight for the the rights of both youngest and oldest
And we'll be remembered as on of the coldest
Creatures on Earth who destroyed what God gave us
But wait, there's still time to ask to ask God to help save us.
He's given us chances to redeem ourselve's often
After each war had passed, He'd hoped that we'd soften
And learn through our tears, our pain and our sorrow
To love for today and live for tomorrow.
There's still time to see that to sin brings us sadness
That evil is darkness and can drive us to madness.
But in good, there is love and that love brings us joy
What more could we ask for each girl and boy ?
God gives us choices and they're ours for the making
He offers us help and it's there for the taking
Through prayer and devotion to things that are good
We can change our world back to the way that it should
Be for all people, as God Himself planned it.
And Peace could be ours, God knows we could stand it.
Let's go back to the way's of the people before us
And pray for God's healing - He will not ignore us
And life everlasting in His world we'll see
If we pray to Him now, "let your truth set us free".

Poetry: The way out
Show me the way out of this, I need to find the door,
I don't know how to deal with you, or what your anger's for.
I tried
by Ed Ostrom
Daily may I seek this goal,
To be clean, sober and whole,
Success along the way may I find,
Inner strength and lasting peace
He's searching for the way out
You can see it all over his face
He wants to feel whole again
Hurts and regrets, he wants to
Is This My Armageddon?

So this is what the bottom feels like.

By the sea
Paths cut to show off
Tracts of land
And now used by dirt bikes,
Nature lovers on walks,
